PSO
Why are you putting yourself through this? Because it is usually quite a while between sessions and existing guides and information on the internet is becoming steadily more difficult to find as various old sites go down across the internet
PSO is a game written in the C programming language and comes in two versions PSO (for the dreamcast/gamecube) and PSOBB (a emulated version for PC). A detailed history of the game and its development can be found on the wiki. Unfortunately it tends to be about 50/50 whether people will like the game or not since it is also a time-sink.
A characters MAG is one of the most important (and fastest) way to upgrade your characters stats. Here is a in-depth look into MAGs or if you want more information on hard numbers you can find it at PSOBB: Mags or locally at MAG-Guide.
The most important part of the game is the DROPS The game rolls dice to decide what to give you every time you open a box, kill a monster, and even what will appear in the shops based on a weighted table guided by your parties Section ID Calculator, map, and difficulty.
While all drops (including ultra rare items) are TECHNICALLY available even on easy, but rare drops have a less then 1% chance of being dropped. Higher difficulties result in rarer items in the table being given more weight, decided by your parties Section IDs.

Character data, Multiplayer and backups (Dolphin Emu) Multiplayer when playing PSO+ on dolphin emu is a fairly simple process, however since its going to be long intervals between sessions this is documentation in case a refresher is needed.
to start a multiplayer session download character data from the GCbackups folder and place it in CARD B. When starting the game choose Temp Data and the guest can select their character(s) or make a new one (up to 4). Once the session is done any changes will be saved onto CARD B and can replace what is in GCbackups. In the case that the card is full and they want to make more characters a new CARD can be generated very easily by removing the data from CARD A and booting up PSO+, generating new game data, however it needs to be carefully documented!
