Universal Overview Backdrop
- Humans have colonized other planets which are independent civilizations, but have a “federation” type relationship to other colonized planets within their system and the greater network of civilization.
- While colonizing and developing a distant system which they name “Ribbon” due to the streaks of gas that surround the star and its two planets. The colonists discover a great archway on the rocky planet Coco which doesn’t appear to have been created naturally. 5 Scientifically minded among them spend 25 years to decipher the symbols etched on the arch and surrounding stone, eventually they are able to uncover how to turn it on.
- The colonists have a large community meeting in which a council is formed as an administration for the colonies development. The scientists explain their findings and assure that the volunteers will arrive safely on a planet, after hours of debate as a community they agree on sending a group of 500 in case they cannot return known collectively as “The 500”.
- The 500 are chosen due to the wide range of professions. These brave explorers go through the arch which is stable for a few minutes before exploding shut and stranding the colony of explorers. These become known as “The 500” and are memorialized in the town square of Opith the first city constructed on the planet.
Yester Colonist Timeline: - (See: Daggerfell History)
Daggerfell was founded in open plains area on the continent of Primera located in the south-west of Yester (GPS coordinants needed).
- 1st generation (500) methodically create the village of Daggerfall and spend years getting to know the surrounding area including the seasons and growing patterns of certain foods and the routine of daily life. As such they become accustomed to their safely built environment. Ronald and his assistants survey the area for best use of land and resources. (+45% population) The settlers have a large community meeting in which a council is formed as an administration which is simply named “The Council” and consists of Sabastian Rolg, Talos Hops, and ??? Rivera. – Chaotic Neutral ethos
- 2nd generation (850) expands on their parents work by planting different crops which occasionally fail and thus reduce the carefully planned amount of expected normal crops. These families also prioritize having The change in the councils members allows for gradual exploration to be done in the surrounding area. Many of the original 500 are unhappy about this development and limit its effectiveness. This exploration leads to breakthroughs such as limited supplies of iron for tools and crops adds to the diversity available to Daggerfell villagers. Daggerfalls population has increased to 850 (+45% total population) with many families having as many kids as they can.
Dorthy becomes one of Ronalds assistants and is elevated to his role by vote when he eventually dies.
- 3rd generation (1100) – (See Human/Yuurn War) Stirred to anger by the Yuurn’s unprovoked attacks and with thoughts of general superiority, the young adults engage in attacks on the Yuurn’s cavern networks. Peace is eventually established both between Humans, Yuurn and Ori. Tradeships such as the S.S Nova begin bringing people and supplies to Yester further accelerating growth. A new village known as ??? is formed.
Human/Yuurn War (20 years) – Premise of Untitled Story #3
The original council stepped down, succeeded by their children of the 2nd generation. The more liberal council voted to allow an exploration party to begin studying the nearby mountain range known as Deathspine. The party of 10 goes up deathspire where they encounter a Yuurn, who gives them a traditional greeting by combat killing a majority of them save for Jason, Timothy and a few others.
The human colony is so upset by this development they call upon the council to begin initiatives in Daggerfell for militia with most young men being conscripted and trained, while the colony also begins producing weapons/armor. Several consecutive raids by the weakly trained malitia on the Yuurn mine result in counter raids on Daggerfell. These raids plunge the small ‘stable’ colony into chaos, making them lose many of their young men die in skirmishes and many of the elderly ‘500’ die when their homes burn. Although the human species has space faring technology, due to the lack of advanced resources the Yuurn are able to consistently defeat them with midevial iron age tools and weapons. Daggerfell is unable to keep up, both in population and production, Yuurn would be able to successfully destroy them.
When further attacks are not coming from their new friends the Yuurn come to Daggerfell to find out why. This results in the first talks between both races and after several days a resolution of peace is drawn resulting in an exchange of commercial trade and culture. Between the two races gold becomes the principle currency
Challenge/Conflict – Most of Daggerfalls population sees claiming and developing Yester as their responsibility to the human race. Other races such as Ori and Yuurn however have already learned to live in relative peace with one another with major conflict ‘few and far between’.
Planet which will eventually named Yester – rocky planet much like earth and has some similar fauna life which produce a similar atmospheric density to earth. Liquid water is freely available in streams, rivers and lakes.
Potential Plotlines:
> Going south-west, the first group of explorers find the first of many alien ruins on the planet in an old mangled forest (owned by a wealthy Ori family known as Tiberius). > Another group of explorers head north into the mountains where they discover deposits of iron, silver and gold allowing them to forge better tools and build circuitry for machinery. The group also runs into the Yuurn who capture more then half the group and assaults the others.
