Daggerfell

The citizens of Daggerfell are a hardy folk who voluntarily were exiled to a backwater planet in an unknown sector of space.

Knowing that no help would be coming for them the original 500 collectively decided to focus on learning about their surroundings and building a stable a life for future generations.

Before coming through the ruined portal, the original colonists democratically decided on a council which would direct the growth of their colony. Those with scientific backgrounds were often heard by this council while advising on scientific development. This administration was in addition to the requirements imposed by their work and family. The original explorers were very careful and methodical about each action, thus many unexplained and curious observations which were unrepeatable turned into legends. Original Council Members: Talos Hopps, Paul Gibs, Bucky “Bic” Winters Scientific Council: Dorthy Anne, Saul Rolg, Ronald Mccorn

Once they arrived on the planet everyone got to work on constructing a village, though without many of the amenities afforded them back home and far less then on earth. This town becomes known as Daggerfall after Saul Rolg dropped the one dagger they had after coming through the portal. During their entire life The 500 are careful to understand the planet, seasons, growing patterns of plants and migration of local wildlife. Many hardy plants, including staple foods wheat, rice, and potatos can survive in the temperate environment. They also learned that some foods native to the planet are also edible or can be used as substitutes for earth food they are used to.

The life of the 500 primarily revolved around the harvest season in which most of not all hands assisted in gathering and storing food. The first harvest began the traditional harvest festival, a feast where all enjoyed the bounty of their efforts for the year.

Year after year the village of Daggerfell grew, with some marrying and having children. Many of these children learned the jobs their parents had been trained. Some of the kids also mentored under other mentors. This changed the dynamic of the village, with more people and houses being needed additional amenities were required including the expansion of smiths, textiles, carpenters, masons, and medicine.

As the 2nd generation took over and was taught the skills known by the original 500 additional jobs such as herding, leatherworking allowed for more use of existing, often discarded, resources. The younger farmers took on the task of growing a small supply of new crops which occasionally succeeded, Ronald takes on more assistants and two are selected to become full members, before Ronald dies. 2nd Generation Council Members: Kal Hopps, Michael Heart, Samantha “Sam” Winters Scientific Council: Dorthy, Saul Rolg, Calvin Karm, Ruth Lee, Ronald Mccorn(R.I.P)

As the third generation began, the hard years of labor were quickly taking their toll on the original 500 with most of them dying off. Daggerfell burst at its seams as more children were being born requiring the city to decide to expand or form a new city. (See: Master Story) A mostly new council finally agreed on a vote to explore the surrounding area which lead to the initial exploration of both Deathspire(W) and Greyspine(E) mountains. This also began the Yuurn War which brough Daggerfell nearly to the brink of collapse.

The first Tradeship (S.S Nova) arrived bringing the first outside humans to the small colony. This would also lead to more tradeships arriving and the exchange of resources. For the first time humanity would know that first contact had happened.

Important Families of Daggerfell: Rus, Rivera, Hopps, Saul Rolg, Nacom, Winters

Legends:

Night Lightning – Often occurring before rain an atmospheric anomoly occurs resulting in bright random flashes resembling ancient camera flashes. These can occur during the day or night but are more striking during the night. This has resulted in heavy shudders placed over all windows.

Forest of Fire – Over the river bridge outside of Daggerfell is a forest of jetblack tree trunks. Most of the leaves on these trees have died and formed the mysilium dirt cover where fungus and moss thrive. Many of Daggerfells scientific minds have attempted to unravel the cause of what caused such a quick conflagration.

Abandoned Manor – Heading east through the Forest of Fire is a rotting mansion long abandoned and which many large wild animals have now taken up residence. This large three floor (and basement) abode is now home to many apex hunters (large spiders, wolfs, bears) which fight for dominance to raise their young. Smaller beasts to enjoy eating scraps left behind.

Haunted Mountain Shipwreck – In a valley within Deathspine exists the gnarled wreckage of a spaceship. Human explorers discover the wreckage after peace is established with the Yuurn. Before this time the Yuurn never knew of its existence, since they live under Deathspine. Although alien in nature the ship appears to be the equivalent of a B-Class ship which carried four passengers (according to the skeletons discovered) which were bent into unnatural shape likely from impact, and 300 tons of cargo of which the containers largely contained food and were pillaged by local wildlife. Soon after its discovery odd events began to occur in and around the wreckage during the day and night. Alien voices speaking in an unknown language and local wildlife becoming randomly aggressive to humans and each other.
